Cosmetic palette, rhomboid. Incised decoration showing the hunting of hippopotami. On the right is a man, standing in a boat, he has just harpooned a hippopotamus, which can be seen further to the right. A long oar is extended from the stern into the water. To the far left is another hippopotamus, to the right of which is a gazelle being attacked by a hyena.

Prehistoric Egypt, Naqada I, 4.000 - 3.500 BC. Provenance is unknown.
