IIIe century AD | [en] fibule

Bronze cloak pin, the face in the form of a military galley under way to left. Intact with traces of original tinned surfaces. Probably a badge for a Roman naval officer

Ram, proembolon and stern are decorated with a fantastic animal figure (or ram) who spend a decorative rather than realistic style. The decor evokes the Nordic ornaments.

Length 43mm
